PARTNERSHIPS+

People’s Housing+ is partnering to develop projects that advance affordable housing, real estate development and prevent the displacement of low-to-moderate income residents.

AFFORDABLE RENTAL

Vaucresson’s Sausage Company goes beyond sausage and serving people. They are passionate about helping their community. That is why they are invested in affordable housing for families in the Seventh Ward, in hopes this will preserve the history of the city and their family's name.

Vaucresson’s Creole Cafe & Deli houses two apartments that are currently rented. A two-bedroom unit is located above the café, and a one-bedroom apartment is on the bottom floor. The Vaucresson’s have invested to provide permanently affordable units for the community.

EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER

People’s Housing+ is partnering with For Providers By Providers to reimagine a historic firehouse as a center for early childhood development with seven affordable housing units located above.

The Early Childhood Education Center, located on the ground floor, will provide up to 50 seats for children from surrounding neighborhoods and partner up with For Providers By Providers to find an operator. This project not only repositions vacant city-owned property but also creates more affordable housing units and educational resources for growing families in our communities

STORM WATER GARDENS

Water is New Orleans' lifeblood and its biggest challenge. In our city, decades of well-intentioned civil engineering have resulted in severe subsidence in neighborhoods across the city.

People’s Housing+ is adding stormwater gardens to all of our new homes. The gardens feature french drains, swales, and lots of water-happy plants. Not only will it provide beautiful landscaping, and help prevent subsidence by allowing the water to seep back into the ground, but they will ease the burden on the city's pumps. Each site is capable of diverting up to 50,000 gallons of water a year from the municipal stormwater drainage system.

WATER GARDEN PARTNERS

People’s Housing+ is working with a unique coalition to build stormwater gardens in all of the new homes.
