PH+ SECURES $25,000 GRANTS: FUNDS TO BE USED FOR WILLS, SUCCESSION PLANS AND CLEAR TITLES

February 06, 2024 | Written by PEOPLE’S HOUSING+

People’s Housing Plus (PH+) homeowners will be able to get assistance with wills, succession plans and clear titles thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas’ Heirs’ Property Program. PH+’s Stewardship Manager Erania Ellis, Director of Client Engagement & Education Deneka Desroches and Jay Daniels from Infinity Title will be partnering on the effort.

“This is a great opportunity for our homeowners, and it really gets to the mission of creating multigenerational wealth,” says Ellis. “Without a will or succession plan, and clear title, assets like a house are in limbo when the owner dies. With planning, you can make sure your assets are passed onto the next generation.”

What separates PH+ from other developers is that stewardship is a main component of our work. We don’t just help you purchase an affordable home, community land trust home or rent an affordable apartment, we provide you the tools and resources to stay in that home and pass it on to the next generation. The Heirs’ Property Program grant is a great example
of this work.

Attorney and Owner of Infinity Title Jay Daniels will be working with the PH+ staff and homeowners on the wills, succession plans and clear titles. Additionally, he will also be part of PH+’s Money Mindset: How to Develop a Health Relationship with Your Finances workshop, organized and created by Desroches.

“We’re all about giving people the tools, resources and knowledge they need to acquire a property, maintain it, and eventually transfer it,” Desroches says. “Wherever you are on your financial journey, we can help you.”
